Sam Johnstone Transfer News: Manchester United and Tottenham Ready To Battle For West Brom Keeper.

As the summer transfer window continues to heat, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both said to be interested in signing West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone. According to reports, the two clubs will battle it out for the 24-year-old shot-stopper, who kept 10 clean sheets for the Baggies last season.

Johnstone is currently on loan at Aston Villa and has had a successful spell at Villa Park so far, helping the club reach the Championship

Play-Off final. The England U21 international is believed to be keen on a permanent move away from The Hawthorns, and with both Manchester United and Tottenham in the market for a new goalkeeper, it could come down to who offers the best deal for the player.

Albion boss Darren Moore has previously said that he wants Johnstone to return to the club next season, but the prospect of playing for either Manchester United or Tottenham may be too good for the keeper to turn down.

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both preparing to make bids for West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone in the January transfer window.

Johnstone, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been impressive for the Championship side this year and both clubs are keen to add him to their squads as they look to improve their goalkeeping options. United has relied on David de Gea as their first-choice keeper for several years and with his future uncertain, they are keen to bring in a keeper who can be their long-term No.1.

Tottenham, meanwhile, has had problems between the sticks this season with Hugo Lloris and Michel Vorm both struggling for form. Vorm is likely to leave the club in the January transfer window and Johnstone could be the perfect replacement for him. The 24-year-old has made 28 appearances for Preston this season and kept eight clean sheets.

Both clubs could do with a goalkeeper in the January transfer window and Johnstone would be a perfect fit for both of them. He has had a good season for Preston and he would be a great signing for either Tottenham or Aston Villa.
